Uses of Fuel Oil D6 (Bunker C)
Fuel Oil D6, also called Bunker C, is a heavy fuel used in industrial and maritime applications where high energy density and prolonged combustion are required. Due to its high viscosity and sulfur content, it usually needs preheating before use.
Restrictions and Regulations
-
Regulated by IMO 2020 due to its high sulphur content.
-
Its use in the maritime industry has declined in favour of cleaner fuels such as MGO (Marine Gas Oil) or VLSFO (Very Low Sulfur Fuel Oil).
